" Walking these parellel lines... You are at war with yourself;
caught between what you truly are — and what you're supposed to be. "

〝 Ah, sweet Moonlight... how can something so lustrous prompt the rivers to run red? 〞

They walk the streets, you know... Werewolves.Slaves to the Moonlight, hiding in plain sight. A friendly face one moment - the next? The instrument of your undoing. All it takes is one glance at the moon, and they'll tear you apart. For eons, the War between The Initiative of Mankind and the Fenris has raged relentlessly onward. Despite their contrasts, Man and Werewolf share a common vice: the craving for blood to be spilled. One side attacks the other; the other retaliates in kind. Thus the perpetual cycle of destruction continues. But what if you place your allegiance in both?
Or perhaps neither - eschewing obligation in favor of your own ideals?

Caught in the center of it all is a mercenary born of Fenris blood; threading the narrow line between the two halves of her lineage to fight for some semblance of normality amidst the oppression wrought by both sides of the War: Rhapsody Zepheld. As a partial Fenris herself, Rhapsody still retains most of her humanity - though not without the constant, gnawing inner conflict of both skews. Much like her brethren, she is a slave to the Moonlight: and once abhorred the duality that runs through her veins. Bearing a mutated lycan arm lurking beneath her woven bandages, the slow road to accepting her birthright was fraught with turmoil: her bloodthirsty actions upon one fateful Moonlit night resulted in the death of countless Imperial soldiers, and inadvertently gave rise to the Fenris landmark known as the 'Burning Fields' - firmly cementing the reputation of the Fenris as an enemy of mankind. Nonetheless, Rhapsody did gradually come to accept her origins with the aid of a certain sorceress - thus she now uses her lycanic talents to earn her keep in a War-torn land as a freelance Mercenary - tackling whatever quests may line her pockets, while eliminating key figures from both races to steer the course of this fruitless War in her favor: regardless of whether such actions benefit mankind's bloodthirsty Initiative, or the Fenris scourge.Ruthless, unflinching and downright condescending to those who dare to stand in the way of her goals, Rhapsody employs the killer instinct of her Fenris origins with the cunning wit of her humanity to achieve what she wants in life...

Rarely through diplomacy.

The Fenris Race
Lycans. Werewolves. Beasts of old. The Fenris have existed for centuries, begrudgingly sharing the land with their human counterparts. While they appear human to the naked eye, a Fenris bears extreme traits of aggression and innately heightened senses - sight, smell, hearing, and even libido - at all times. However, once the light of a full Moon stings the eyes of a Fenris? They become their true selves: monstrous lycanic beasts that become hellbent on mindless destruction and carnage, all in an effort to sate their three key tenants: fighting, feeding, and breeding. They operate in distinct 'packs' - banding together, and often engaging in civil conflict with other packs of their own kind. Life as a Fenris is almost always a contest of who is the 'alpha' - and this belief applies beyond their own kind, hence their deep-rooted contempt for humanity, who they have been at War with since the very beginning.

The Initiative
The clue truly lies in their name. Those humans who abhor the Fenris race; who perceive them as a scourge to be blighted, and thus initiated a bloody crusade against their lycanic neighbors that has spanned for eons. Ruling over the Boundary, the Initiative is a highly organized military force who act as the dominant governing body and the 'protectors' of mankind against the Fenris. Elite Knights make up their ranks, trained from youth into nothing short of killing machines who specialize in the destruction of the Fenris. They view their mortal adversaries as beasts to be culled, and nothing more.
The irony lies in their brutality - for every claim they makes about the monstrous nature of the Fenris, one can be certain that the Initiative has done the same, tenfold. Such is human nature, not that they care to admit as such.

Mutation
Those who lie between races are a rather rare breed - born out of a union between a pure human and a pure Fenris. Shunned by both races alike as an abomination despite their seemingly increasing numbers, a partial Fenris bears a myriad of traits from their dual lineage - some are mostly human with minimal lycan alterations - while others are full-blown Fenris, yet can maintain their human lucidity even upon a moonlit night. In the case of Rhapsody, her mutation is mostly concealed. Still, she's often questioned about what lurks beneath the bandages that enrobe the entirety of her left arm...
Under normal circumstances, her arm may appear human-sized - though these simply cover up the truth: her entire limb is a deep black colour, with bright, crimson veins that lurk beneath the flesh. At will, Rhapsody can enlarge this arm into its true form: a monstrous Fenris claw, akin to what a full-blooded Lycan would bear. In this state, Rhapsody's arm becomes strong enough to break through the hardest of materials with relative ease. Her claws are sharp enough to slice through anything organic or indeed metallic. As far as she's concerned, it's both a curse and a blessing.

The Burning Fields
Once a tranquil plain of lush, green fields - now a battleground of perpetual conflict. The Burning Fields was once the site of an Initiative colony, where civilians lived in relative peace and away from the raging War between the Fenris and mankind. All of that changed on one Moonlit night. Rhapsody's first experience of losing herself to the Moonlight resulted in the woman losing control of her actions - and subsequently reducing the entire colony and its inhabitants to ruins.
Of course, she remembered nothing of it at the time, but when she finally regained consciousness the following day... the sight of raging fires, the acrid smell of blood, the pile of corpses around her... it all became apparent what she had done. This land has subsequently become known as the 'Burning Fields' - and currently acts as a stronghold for the more dominant Fenris packs. It's Rhapsody's cross to bear... and she hates herself for it.

The Boundary
The pride of the Initiative, and humanity primary bastion. The Boundary is a colossal, man-made city that stretches far into the skies, where the Initiative's influence and rule reign supreme. Citizens who are fortunate enough to live here indulge in a life of pleasantries and vanity - spared from the brutal reality of what lurks on the outside: brutal, bloody War with the Fenris race.
The Initiative themselves govern the Boundary, and maintain a very strict policy about who enters and leaves the city. At every turn, Knights can be seen upkeeping law and order, armed and ready for any threat that may pose itself. Of course, Rhapsody knows a few 'shortcuts' into the city - which she frequents often to enjoy a few of those 'indulgences'.

Cult of the Wolf
Yet, despite the widely-adopted human mantra of hating the Fenris, there are those who view the lycan race as something... more. Particularly those of the hybrid variety, such as Rhapsody. A small 'cult' of human maidens who revere her actions throughout the War, and view her as the next stage of mankind - as an evolution, dare it be said.
Many in number, they seemingly devote themselves to Rhapsody at a moment's notice, driven by a twisted form of worship and lust - and given Rhapsody's tumultuous Fenris urges? Such human concubines are never too far away from her location, leading to a rather wonderful outlet for her many, pent-up frustrations.Trouble is, given her 'output'? She's lost count of the offspring.

Cerena
The Almighty Fire Lord, Cerena. An enigmatic witch who bears a deep interest in Rhapsody.
During the Moonlit night that gave rise to the Burning Fields, Rhapsody found herself confronted by the Fire Lord. After hours of gruelling conflict, Cerena finally managed to calm the Fenris down - even consoling her after she awakened to the culmination of her actions. Yet Cerena's ace in the hole, as it were? The choker now nestled around Rhapsody's neck: a stylish piece to compliment her outfit, for sure. However, its primary power lies in the enchantment. While wearing this choker, Rhapsody can keep her feral urges mostly inhibited during a Moonlit night, allowing her to remain lucid at the very least. Still, this choker acts as something of a source of 'control' for Cerena. Should she desire? She can shock Rhapsody through the choker, subduing her should she grow a little too antsy. Still, given the pros outweigh the cons, Rhapsody begrudgingly allows this.
